Dustin Sasser Throws Five Shutout Innings In Boise Win

Dustin Sasser improved to 2-1 on the season with a nice start in Boise’s 7-2 win over Tri-City. He gave up two hits and a walk with three strikeouts in five shutout innings.

Joshua Donaldson went two for three with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.  Kyler Burke went three for four with a double, a homerun, two runs and two RBIs.

Chiefs Edge Quad Cities 6-5

Ryne Malone scored on Blake Lalli in the bottom of the ninth inning to win it for the Chiefs in their 6-5 in over Quad Cities.  Alessandro Maestri picked up the win and he improved to 4-3 on the season.  He threw two perfect innings to close the game out.

James Adduci had a nice day at the plate.  He went three for four with an RBI.

Smokies Score Three In The Ninth to Beat Mobile

After being down by two heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, the Smokies mounted a three run rally to win it.  Matt Craig doubled home two runs to tie it and then Chris Robinson singled home the game winner on a fielders choice.  Craig finished the game three for four with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs in the 7-6 win.

Adalberto Mendez picked up the win and he improved to 3-3 on the season.  He threw a perfect ninth inning.

Scott Moore Homers Twice In Iowa Win

Scott Moore had a huge day at the plate in Iowa’s 13-2 win over Omaha.  He went three for three with a walk, two homeruns, five RBIs and two runs.  Matt Murton went two for five with two doubles, three RBIs and a run.

Juan Mateo had an impressive start and he improved to 1-0 on the season.  He gave up one run on eight hits and a walk with three strikeouts in six innings of work.

Marc Sawyer Drives In Four Runs In Boise Win

Marc Sawyer was a perfect four for four and he drove in four runs in Boise’s 11-9 win over Yakima.  Steven Clevenger also had a nice game and he went four for five with three doubles, two runs and two RBIs.

Christopher Huseby picked up the win despite a rough start.  He improved to 1-2 and he gave up four runs on four hits and one walk with two strikeouts in five innings of work.

Chiefs Held to Five Hits In Loss to Quad Cities

Offense was a problem for the Chiefs as they lost to Quad Cities 8-3. The Chiefs managed just five hits and all five were singles and only Nathan Samson reached base more then once. He went one for two with a walk and an RBI.

Robert Hernandez took the loss and he was shelled in his start. He dropped to 3-5 on the season and he gave up seven runs on seven hits and four walks with one strikeout in five innings.

Mitch Atkins Throws Seven Shutout Innings In Daytona Win

Daytona shut out the Flying Tigers 4-0 and it was Mitch Atkins who got it done on the mound.  He gave up four hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in seven shutout innings and the win pushed his record to 7-6 on the season.

Yusuf Carter was the hitting star.  He went two for four with a homerun and two RBIs.

Smokies Held to Six Hits in Loss to Mobile

The Smokies couldn’t get much going at the plate in their 4-1 loss to Mobile.  All six of the Smokies hits were singles and no hitter had more the one hit.  Matt Craig did reach base three times with a single and two walks.

Donald Veal had a solid start go to waste and he dropped to 5-7 on the season.  He gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks wiht four strikeouts in five inning.

Josh Kroeger’s Three Run Homer Not Enought For Iowa

Iowa lost to Omaha 6-5 and it was Josh Kroeger who provided most of the offense for the Cubs.  He belted a three run homer in the second inning.  Matt Murton singled twice and he scored two runs.

Bret Prinz took the loss and he dropped to 1-1 on the season.  He gave up one unearned run in two innings of relief.

AZL Cubs Score Fourteen Runs In Ten Inning Win Over AZL Angels

Darwin Barney had a career day at the plate in the AZL Cubs 14-13 win over the AZL Angels.  He went five for five with two doubles, an RBI and three runs.  Luis Batista went three for five with a double, a homerun, three RBIs and two runs.

Five different pitchers gave up runs in this one.  Blake Parker picked up the win and he gave up one unearned run in two innings.

Boise Wins Ten Inning Shootout

Pitching went out the window in this one as Boise edged Yakima 14-13 in ten innings.  William Mottram drove in five runs while Ty Wright went three for five with a homerun, two RBIs and three runs.

Audy Santana picked up the win with a shutout tenth.  The win improved his record to 2-1 on the season.

Chiefs Pen Hit Hard in Loss to Quad Cities

Three different relievers all gave up runs and Matt Maradeo took the loss as Peoria lost to Quad Cities 8-5.  Maradeo gave up two runs in 2/3 of an inning and he dropped to 0-2 on the season.

Blake Lalli was the hitting star in the loss.  He went two for four with a double, two RBIs and a run.

Ryan Harvey Homers Twice In Daytona Win

Ryan Harvey had a big day at the plate in Daytona’s 8-4 win over Lakeland.  He homered twice and drove in three runs.  Kyle Reynolds went two for five with a solo homerun and two runs scored.

Jesse Estrada improved to 2-2 with a decent start.  He gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Paul Schappert Is Shelled In Smokies Loss

Paul Schappert had a pretty tough time and he fell to 3-5 on the season in the Smokies 10-3 loss to Mobile.  He gave up six runs on seven hits in four innings and three of those six hits went over the fence.

Sam Fuld was the hitting star in the loss.  He went four for five with two doubles and a run.

Iowa Loses to Omaha In Eleven Innings

Geoffrey Jones gave up a run in the bottom of the eleventh and he took the loss as Iowa lost to Omaha 4-3.  Cory Bailey had the best pitching performance of the game.  He gave up just three hits and he struck out five in five shutout innings.

Eric Patterson went two for four with a homerun and two RBIs.  Josh Kroeger went two for five with a solo homerun.

AZL Cubs Blow Out AZL Rangers 10-1

The AZL Cubs took it to the Rangers both on the mound and at the plate.  Four pitchers combined to hold the AZL Rangers to just three hits and it was Oswaldo Martinez who picked up the win.  He gave up two hits and he struck out five in four shutout innings.

Carlos Perez was the hitting star in the win.  He went three for three with two RBIs and a run.

Jeff Samardzija Has Another Nice Start In Daytona Loss

Dayton lost 4-3 to Lakeland, but Jeff Samardzija put together another decent start for the Cubs.  He gave up two runs on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts in five innings of work.  Michael Phelps gave up two runs in his two innings of relief and he took the loss.

Mark Reed went two for four with two doubles, a run and an RBI.  Robinson Chirinos went three for five with a double and an RBI.

Smokies Edge Mobile 3-2

Tyler Colvin doubled home Jemel Spearman in the bottom of the ninth to win it for Mobile in a 3-2 game.  Colvin was the only Smokies’ hitter with two hits in the game.

Justin Berg had a nice start but he didn’t pick up the win.  He gave up two runs on four hits and one walk with one strikeout in 6 2/3 innings.  Rocky Rogquet picked up the win and he improved to 1-0.  He gave up three hits and a walk with one strikeout in 2 1/3 shutout innings of relief.

Alberto Alburquerque Throws Five Shutout Innings In Boise Win

Boise edged Yakima 3-1 and it Alberto Alburquerque who got it done on the mound.  He improved to 1-1 on the season and he gave up two hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five shutout innings of relief.

Jonathan Wyatt went two for two with a double, a walk and a run.  William Mottram hit a solo homer in the win.
