AZL Cubs Pitchers Are Hit Hard in Loss to AZL Padres

The AZL Cubs used four pitchers and all four of them gave up at least two runs in a 9-3 loss.  Billy Muldowney took the loss and he gave up three runs (one earned) on two hits with two strikeouts in two innings.

Leon Johnson was the hitting star in the loss. He went two for four with a triple and a run.

Roberto Sabates Has Four Hits In AZL Cubs Win

The AZL Cubs had plenty of hitting stars in their 11-6 win over the AZL Giants but only Roberto Sabates was a perfect four for four.  He also drew a walk, drove in one and scored two runs.  Elvis Lara also had a solid day at the plate and he hit the only homerun for the AZL Cubs.  He went three for five with three RBIs and two runs.

Brandon Taylor picked up the win with 2 2/3 innings of relief.  He gave up one run on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

AZL Cubs Win Season Opener

The AZL Cubs took care of the AZL Angels 5-3 in their first game of the season.  Jesus Reyes provided the bulk of the offense in the win.  He went three for four and he drove in three RBIs.

Oswaldo Martinez picked up the win despite being the least effective of the three pitchers used.  He gave up two runs on four hits with two strikeouts in three innings of relief.
