Tyler Colvin doubled home Jemel Spearman in the bottom of the ninth to win it for Mobile in a 3-2 game. Colvin was the only Smokies’ hitter with two hits in the game.
Justin Berg had a nice start but he didn’t pick up the win. He gave up two runs on four hits and one walk with one strikeout in 6 2/3 innings. Rocky Rogquet picked up the win and he improved to 1-0. He gave up three hits and a walk with one strikeout in 2 1/3 shutout innings of relief.
Donald Veal fell to 4-5 on the season with a rough start in the Smokies 8-1 loss to Huntsville. He gave up six runs on nine hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
All eight Smokie hits were singles. Jemel Spearman was the only hitter to reach base twice with a single and a walk.
Five hits were all the Smokies’ hitters could manage in a 7-0 loss to the Jaxx. Jemel Spearman and Chris Robinson each had two hits in the game and Spearman had the only extra base hit with a triple.
Mark Holliamn dropped to 6-3 with the loss. He gave up three runs on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts in five innings.
The Smokies got their share of hits but they could only push one across the plate as they lost to Mobile 6-1. They outhit Mobile 13-9 but they didn’t pick up a single walk and they stranded ten runners in the game. Josh Kroeger was a perfect four for four and the only run came on a solo homerun by Jemel Spearman.
Donald Veal took the loss and he dropped to 0-4 on the season. He gave up six runs on six hits and five walks with five strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.
Sean Gallagher was hit hard in the Smokies 5-2 loss to Huntsville today. He gave up four runs on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five innings of work.
Jemel Spearman was the hitting star. He doubled in a run in his only at bat as a pinch hitter and he later scored as well.
