The Smokies lost game one of their championship series to Huntsville 8-7. Mitch Atkins gave up five runs in 3 2/3 innings but he didn’t even take the loss because of all the offense. That loss went to Jesse Estrada, who gave up two unearned runs in just 2/3 of an inning.
Casey McGehee went two for five with a three run homer to give the Smokies a boost. Tyler Colvin doubled twice, drove in a run and scored once.
Ryan Harvey had a big day at the plate in Daytona’s 8-4 win over Lakeland. He homered twice and drove in three runs. Kyle Reynolds went two for five with a solo homerun and two runs scored.
Jesse Estrada improved to 2-2 with a decent start. He gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Brian Dopirak was the hitting star in the 3-1 win. He went two for three with a run and an RBI.
Jesse Estrada had a tough time in Daytona’s 7-4 loss to Sarasota. He gave up seven runs on eight hits and two walks with one strikeout in 4 2/3 innings.
Nate Spears was the hitting star in the loss. He went one for four with a double and two RBIs. Mark Reed singled twice and he scored two runs.
Daytona lost 6-3 to Jupiter and and it was the pen that lost this one. Jesse Estrada left the game after six shutout innings and Michael Phelps took the loss after he gave up three unearned runs in the ninth inning.
Tyler Colvin drove in two of the Cubs runs with a two run homer. Alberto Garcia went three for four.
Nate Spears doubled home Mark Reed in the top of the tenth for the game winner as Daytona topped Jupiter 5-4. Matt Matulia got it done in the earlier innings with a nice day at the plate. He went three for five with a double, a triple, two RBIs and a run.
Jesse Estrada was touched up for four runs in five innings but the pen and the hitters picked him up. Michael Phelps picked up the win with a shutout ninth and Matthew Avery put Jupiter down in the tenth for his fifth save of the season.
