Iowa lost to Omaha 6-5 and it was Josh Kroeger who provided most of the offense for the Cubs. He belted a three run homer in the second inning. Matt Murton singled twice and he scored two runs.
Bret Prinz took the loss and he dropped to 1-1 on the season. He gave up one unearned run in two innings of relief.
Geoffrey Jones gave up a run in the bottom of the eleventh and he took the loss as Iowa lost to Omaha 4-3. Cory Bailey had the best pitching performance of the game. He gave up just three hits and he struck out five in five shutout innings.
Eric Patterson went two for four with a homerun and two RBIs. Josh Kroeger went two for five with a solo homerun.
John Webb had his best start of the season in Iowa’s 3-0 win over Nashville. He gave up three hits and a walk with two strikeouts in eight shutout innings and the win improves his record to 2-4 on the season.
Josh Kroeger had a nice day at the plate. He went three for four with a double and three RBIs.
The Smokies got plenty of offense in their 8-1 win over the Barons and just about everyone made a contribution. Gary Cates had a nice game and he doubled twice and scored twice while Josh Kroeger went three for three with a double, an RBI and a run.
Mark Holliman threw three shutout innings but he came out because of a rain delay. Gregory Reinhard picked up the win and he gave up one run and struck out three in two innings.
The Smokies poured on the offense in their 10-3 win over the Barons. Matt Craig had only one hit but it was a three run homer and Josh Kroeger went two for four with two RBIs and two runs.
Kevin Hart improved to 3-5 on the season with a nice start. He gave up two runs on ten hits with five strikeouts in seven innings.
Sean Gallagher improved to 7-2 with another nice start in the Smokies 5-1 win over the Jaxx. He gave up one run on three hits and one walk with nine strikeouts in seven solid innings. The nine strikeouts are a season high and it brings his season total up to 49 in 55 1/3 innings.
Josh Kroeger was the hitting star in the win. He went three for four with a two run homer.
The Smokies lost to the Jaxx 5-4 and Josh Kroeger provided most of the offense with one swing of the bat. He only had one hit but it was a three run homer that provided most of the offense for the Smokies in their loss.
Gregory Reinhard took the loss when he gave up the losing run in the ninth. The loss drops him to 0-1 on the season.
The Smokies scored five runs in their final two frames to come from behind to beat the Suns 9-5. Josh Kroeger homered and drove in two runs in the win. Jacob Fox drove in two runs and scored one without getting a hit.
Sean Gallagher was hit hard and he gave up four runs in 5 1/3 innings. Adalberto Mendez gave up one run in 1 2/3 innings and he picked up the win.
Mark Holliman gave up eight runs on eleven hits and six walks with one strikeout in 5 2/3 innings. He dropped to 6-2 on the season in the 8-4 loss.

Issmael Salas hit a huge three run homer in the second inning to put the Smokies on the board in their 4-3 win over Mississippi. Josh Kroeger drove in the other run for the Smokies with a solo shot in the fourth.
Sean Gallagher had a nice start and he improved to 5-2 on the season. He gave up two runs on four hits and three walks with a strikeout in five innings.
The Smokies beat Mississippi 8-5 and Josh Kroeger had a had in six of those runs. He went two for three with two walks, three RBIs and three runs. Jacob Fox went two for five with a triple and he scored twice.
The pen did most of the work in this one because Donald Veal had a rough start. Jerry Blevins picked up the win with an inning of shutout relief.
Jerry Blevins gave up a run in the ninth that cost the Smokies the game in their 3-2 loss to Mississippi. Justin Berg was decent in his start. He only gave up two runs but he gave up eleven hits in 5 1/3 innings.
Jacob Fox was the hitting star in the loss. He went three for four and he doubled three times. Josh Kroeger drove in both of the Smokies runs.
Jacob Fox provided most of the offense for the Smokies in their 5-4 win over the Lookouts. He homered twice and drove in three runs and his homerun season total is now at eight. Josh Kroeger has a nice game as well. He went two for four with a double, a run and an RBI.
Sean Gallagher picked up the win despite a lackluster start. He gave up four runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings of work. The win pushed his record to 5-2 on the season.
The Smokies got their share of hits but they could only push one across the plate as they lost to Mobile 6-1. They outhit Mobile 13-9 but they didn’t pick up a single walk and they stranded ten runners in the game. Josh Kroeger was a perfect four for four and the only run came on a solo homerun by Jemel Spearman.
Donald Veal took the loss and he dropped to 0-4 on the season. He gave up six runs on six hits and five walks with five strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.
Kevin Hart improved to 2-1 with his best outing of the year. He gave up just four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in seven shutout innings. He’s gotten progressively better in each of his last three starts and hopefully this is a breakthrough outing for the right hander.
Christopher Walker was the hitting star with three hits including a three run homer. Josh Kroeger and Gary Cates each finished with two hits and an RBI.
Donald Veal’s had a tough time this year and he’s dropped to 0-3 with another rough start. He gave up four runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts in just 4 1/3 innings and he’s given up at least three runs in each of his first three starts while not even making it into the fifth inning in any of them. This isn’t good news for a guy who was listed as high as number two on Cubs prospect lists.

Justin Berg was bounced after just one inning in his start. He gave up four runs on two hits and three walks with a strikeout. Paul Schappert picked up the win in relief. He gave up two runs on four hits in four innings of work.
