Smokies Can’t Get a Hit In Game Two Loss To Huntsville

The Smokies managed just three walks without a single hit as they were complete shutdown by three Huntsville pitchers.  Tyler Colvin reached base twice and he drew two of those three walks.

Justin Berg took the loss in a rough start.  He gave up five runs (just two earned) on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts in six innings.

Smokies Edge Mobile 3-2

Tyler Colvin doubled home Jemel Spearman in the bottom of the ninth to win it for Mobile in a 3-2 game.  Colvin was the only Smokies’ hitter with two hits in the game.

Justin Berg had a nice start but he didn’t pick up the win.  He gave up two runs on four hits and one walk with one strikeout in 6 2/3 innings.  Rocky Rogquet picked up the win and he improved to 1-0.  He gave up three hits and a walk with one strikeout in 2 1/3 shutout innings of relief.

Justin Berg Pitches Smokies to Win Over Carolina

Justin Berg improved to 4-5 on the season with a nice start in the Smokies 4-1 win over Carolina.  He gave up one run on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings.

Jacob Fox went two for four with two runs and an RBI.  Matt Craig hit a two run homer.

Smokies Held to Four Hits In Loss To Huntsville

Jacob Fox belted a two run homer for the Smokies and that was pretty much all the hitters did in the team’s 3-2 loss to Huntsville.  That was the only extra base hit of the game and no Smokie reach base twice.

Justin Berg took the loss and he fell to 3-5 on the season. He gave up three runs on four hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in six innings of work.

Justin Berg Is Shelled In Smokies Loss

Justin Berg dropped to 2-4 on the season with a rough start in the Smokies 10-3 loss to Carolina.  He gave up seven runs on nine hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings.

Jacob Fox was the hitting star in the loss. He went two for four with two solo homeruns.

Justin Berg Is Hit Hard in Smokies Loss

Justin Berg dropped to 2-3 on the season with a tough start in the Smokies 6-3 loss to the Barons.  He gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits and five walks with four strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.

Jacob Fox hit a two run homer in the fourth inning.  Jorge Cortes went two for five with a run.

Smokies Lose Pitchers Duel to Mississippi

Jerry Blevins gave up a run in the ninth that cost the Smokies the game in their 3-2 loss to Mississippi.  Justin Berg was decent in his start.  He only gave up two runs but he gave up eleven hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Jacob Fox was the hitting star in the loss.  He went three for four and he doubled three times.  Josh Kroeger drove in both of the Smokies runs.

Justin Berg Hit Hard In Smokies Blowout Loss

Justin Berg was knocked around for ten runs (six earned) on six hits and four walks in just one inning in a 16-7 beatdown at the hands of Mobile.  Tim Layden was also hit hard and he gave up five runs (two earned) on five hits in two innings.  The four errors by the Smokies didn’t help things but this was an ugly game all the way around.

Jacob Fox was the hitting star in the game.  He went two for five with a three run homer.  Gary Cates also went yard with a two run shot.

Justin Berg Pitches Smokies to Win Over Lookouts

Justin Berg had an impressive start today in the Smokies 5-1 win over the Lookouts.  He gave up seven hits and a walk with five strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.

Jacob Fox went two for three with two RBIs and a run.  Christopher Walker went two for five with a double and two runs.

Smokies Out Hit Huntsville in High Scoring Game

Seven different Smokies had two hits a piece in a team effort 7-5 win over Huntsville.  Jorge Cortes went two for three with two walks, two RBIs and a run while Issmael Salas went two for three with a double and two runs.

Justin Berg was roughed up in his start but the bats and the pen picked him up.  He gave up five runs on nine hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.  Carmen Pignatiello threw two shutout innings with two strikeouts and he picked up the win.

Jacob Fox Homers Twice in Smokies’ Win

Jacob Fox had a huge game for the Smokies in their 10-6 win.  He went four for five with two homeruns, two doubles, five RBIs and four runs.  Josh Kroeger was also effective at the plate with three hits, a run and an RBI.

Justin Berg was bounced after just one inning in his start.  He gave up four runs on two hits and three walks with a strikeout.  Paul Schappert picked up the win in relief.  He gave up two runs on four hits in four innings of work.
