Scott Moore Leads Iowa In Win Over Nashville

Iowa doubled up Nashville 4-2 and it was Scott Moore who had a hand in most of that offense.  He went two for three with a walk, a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.  The only other player with a hit was Micah Hoffpauir.

J.R. Mathes gave up two runs in 6 1/3 innings but he didn’t pick up the win.  That went to Rocky Cherry as he got two batters out and he was in the right place at the right time.  He improved to 2-0 on the season (despite having a 7.33 ERA).

Ryan O’Malley Is Hit Hard In Iowa Loss

Ryan O’Malley fell to 3-7 on the season with another tough start.  He gave up six runs on eight hits and one walk with two strikeouts in five innings.

Eric Patterson hit a two run homer in the loss 7-4 loss.  Micah Hoffpauir went two for four and he belted a solo homerun, his fourteenth long ball of the year.

Micah Hoffpauir’s Grand Slam Pushes Iowa to Win Over Memphis

Iowa and Memphis combined for 25 runs on 31 hits in a game where pitching went out the window.  Micah Hoffpauir’s grand slam in the bottom of the eighth gave the Cubs the lead and Buck Coats had a huge game in which he went five for five with two homeruns, five RBIs and three runs.

Clay Rapada picked up the win with 1 1/3 shutout innings.  Neal Cotts was roughed up in his start and he gave up eight runs and he didn’t even last through the fifth inning.

Iowa Drops Fourth Straight Game In Loss to Memphis

Iowa fell a run short in their 5-4 loss to Memphis in what turned out to be their fourth consecutive loss.  Ronny Cedeno drove in three of the four Iowa runs despite not getting a single hit while Micah Hoffpauir went three for four with a run.

Les Walrond fell to 7-3 on the season with a mediocre start.  He gave up four runs on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts in seven innings.  Three of the six hits went over the fence and that’s what really cost the Cubs.

J.R. Mathes Is Hit Hard In Iowa’s Third Straight Loss

J.R. Mathes dropped to 6-4 on the season with a rough start in the Cub’s 7-5 loss to Memphis.  He gave up six runs on seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings.

Ronny Cedeno went three for five with a double and a run.  Micah Hoffpauir went two for four with two RBIs and a run.

Iowa Edges Tacoma 5-4

Down 4-3, Micah Hoffpauir hit a solo shot in the eighth inning to tie and then Eric Patterson hit a solo shot in the ninth that proved to be the game winner in a 5-4 come from behind win for the Cubs.  Mike Kinkade was the only Cub with two hits.  He went two for four with a run.

Randy Wells picked up the win with two shutout innings of relief.  He gave up two hits and he struckout three in the win.

Micah Hoffpauir Has Three Hits, Three RBIs In Iowa’s Blowout Win

Iowa blew out Tacoma 12-5 and Micah Hoffpauir was just one of the hitting stars in the win.  He went three for five with a three run homer.  Four other Cubs went yard in an homerun onslaught with Ronny Cedeno hitting one of the homeruns.  He went two for four with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs.

Ryan O’Malley was shelled for five runs and he was gone before the end of the second inning.  Fortunately, the hitters picked him up.  Jim Henderson picked up the win and he improved to 3-0 with a 1 1/3 innings of shutout ball.

John Webb Hit Hard In Iowa Loss

John Webb had a rough start in the Cubs’ 6-2 loss to Portland. He gave up four runs on seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts in five innings and the loss drops him to 1-1 on the season.

Felix Pie doubled and he drove in a run in the loss.  Michah Hoffpauir went two for four with a double and a run.

Felix Pie Hits Iowa To Win Over Oklahoma

Felix Pie had a big day at the plate in the Cubs 7-2 win over Oklahoma.  He was a perfect four for four with a triple, a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.  Micah Hoffpauir went three for four with another RBI and a run.

Jim Henderson picked up the win.  He gave up two hits and a walk in 1 2/3 innings.

Ryan O’Malley Is Shelled In Iowa Loss

Ryan O’Malley had hit third straight tough loss in Iowa’s 13-3 loss to Oklahoma.  He gave up six runs on eight hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings.

Mike Fontenot was the only Cub with two his.  Micah Hoffpauir drove in yet another run with his ninth homerun of the season.  He now has 42 RBIs in his 45 games.

Iowa Edges Round Rock

Micah Hoffpauir drove in yet another run with a sac. fly in the eighth inning and that proved to be the game winner in the Cubs 7-6 win over Round Rock.  Eric Patterson also had a great day at the plate.  He went three for five with a homerun and three RBIs.

Les Walrond was hit hard in the win and he gave up six runs in five innings.  Rocky Cherry picked up the win with two shutout relief innings.

Iowa Held to Four Hits In Loss to Round Rock

Micah Hoffpauir drove in his 40th run of the season in the second inning but unfortunately, that’s all the Cubs got in their 5-1 loss to Round Rock.  Geovany Soto doubled and he scored the lone run.

Wade Miller was roughed up in his rehab start. He gave up four runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts in six innings.

Iowa Blown Out by Oklahome

J.R. Mathes was hit hard in Iowa’s 9-3 loss to Oklahoma.  He gave up seven runs on nine hits and two walks with three strikeouts in just four innings.  The loss drop his record to 4-3 on the season.

Eric Patterson went two for four with a double, a triple and two RBIs.  Micah Hoffpauir went yard with a solo shot and it was his eighth homerun of the season.

Scott Moore’s Grand Slam the Difference in Iowa Win

Iowa scored six runs in the first inning.  Unfortunately, they didn’t score the rest of the game and the Isotopes scored five runs in the six.  That’s all they’d get though and the final was 6-5 Cubs.

Scott Moore had the big hit of the game and his grand slam capped off the six run first inning.  Micah Hoffpauir boosted his batting average to .414 with another two hits.  He went two for three with a run and an RBI.

J.R. Mathes picked up the win and he gave up five unearned runs in six innings.  The win boosted his record to 2-1.

Micah Hoffpauir Homers Twice in Iowa Loss

Iowa picked up five runs on twelve hits but they were still blown out as the pitching gave up eleven runs in the 11-5 loss.  Micah Hoffpauir continued his incredible start.  He homered twice and drove in three runs and he already has 20 RBIs this season.  Felix Pie picked up two more hits and Mike Fontenot hit his first homerun of the season.

Randy Wells had a tough outing and he took the loss.  He gave up six runs on eight hits in just eight innings.

Carlos Marmol Strikes Out Ten in Shutout Win

Carlos Marmol got it done yesterday in a blow out win over Round Rock.  He gave up just five hits and he struck out ten in 5 1/3 shutout innings.  In all, the three Iowa pitchers struck out 15 batters.

While Micah Hoffpauir didn’t have a great day at the plate, he made his one hit count because it was a grand slam.  Angel Pagan and Mike Fontenot each had two hits and two runs in the win.

Les Walrond Gives Up Just Two Hits in Win Over Round Rock

Les Walrond threw a very nice game for Iowa yesterday.  He gave up just one run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in six innings of work.

Micah Hoffpauir had a nice day at the plate.  He went two for three with a run and an RBI. He’s now hitting .469 on the season.  Almost as good is Felix Pie who went one for two with two walks, a run and an RBI.  He’s hitting .444 on the year.

Iowa Outhit in High Scoring Game Against Isotopes

Iowa starter Randy Wells was pummelled for nine runs in his three innings and while he took the loss, the Cubs actually made a game out of this one.  Felix Pie drove in two and scored two runs while Micah Hoffpauir had three hits and three RBIs in the 12-8 loss.

Felix Pie Homers in Ten Inning Iowa Win

The Iowa Cubs gave up three runs in the bottom of the ninth but came back and scored two in the top of the tenth to win it.  Felix Pie had another big game at the plate.  He went two for five with a double, a homerun and three runs.  Micah Hoffpair also had a really good game.  He went three for four with a homerun, four RBIs and two runs.  Buck Coats also went yard in the 9-7 win.

Fedrico Baez picked up the win despite allowing the tying run to score in the ninth (it was an inherited runner).  Hector Almonte had a nice relief appearance.  He threw two perfect innings and he struck out three.

Randy Wells Has Solid Start in Iowa Win

Randy Wells gave up a single run on just two hits and two walks with three strikeouts in six innings of work to pick up the win.  Rocky Cherry had a mixed relief appearance.  He gave up a run on three hits but he struck out four in 1 2/3.

At the plate, Micah Hoffpauir provided the bulk of the offense.  He went three for four with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs.
