Down 4-3, Micah Hoffpauir hit a solo shot in the eighth inning to tie and then Eric Patterson hit a solo shot in the ninth that proved to be the game winner in a 5-4 come from behind win for the Cubs. Mike Kinkade was the only Cub with two hits. He went two for four with a run.
Randy Wells picked up the win with two shutout innings of relief. He gave up two hits and he struckout three in the win.
The Cubs had a tough day at the plate in a 7-3 loss to Tacoma that saw Iowa pick up just six hits in the game. Mike Kinkade was the hitting star in the loss. He went two for four with a homerun and two RBIs.
John Webb dropped to 1-2 with a tough start. He gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits and four walks with four strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
Iowa scored two runs in the ninth inning to send the game into extra frames and then Mike Kinkade hit a huge two run walk off homer in the tenth to win for the Cubs. Kinkade finished the game three for five and he scored three runs in the 6-4 win.
Les Walrond had a tough start but the late inning heroics bailed him out. He gave up eight hits and he walked seven in six innings. Clay Rapada picked up the win with two shutout innings of relief.
