Daytona Edges Clearwater In Ten Innings

Nate Spears singled home Mark Reed in the bottom of the tenth inning to win in the Cubs 2-1 win over Clearwater.  The only other Cubs run came on a solo homerun by Tyler Colvin.

Tim Layden picked up the win.  He gave up a hit and struck out one in two shutout innings.

Daytona Held to Five Hits In Loss to Brevard County

Daytona didn’t do much at the plate in a 5-1 loss to Brevard County.  Nate Spears drove in the only run for the Cubs and Brian Dopirak went two for three with a walk and a run.

Scott Koerber dropped to 2-3 with a tough start.  He gave up five runs (four earned) on eleven hits and two hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Jesse Estrada Hit Hard In Daytona Loss

Jesse Estrada had a tough time in Daytona’s 7-4 loss to Sarasota.  He gave up seven runs on eight hits and two walks with one strikeout in 4 2/3 innings.

Nate Spears was the hitting star in the loss.  He went one for four with a double and two RBIs.  Mark Reed singled twice and he scored two runs.

Daytona Edges Jupiter 5-4 In Ten Innings

Nate Spears doubled home Mark Reed in the top of the tenth for the game winner as Daytona topped Jupiter 5-4. Matt Matulia got it done in the earlier innings with a nice day at the plate. He went three for five with a double, a triple, two RBIs and a run.

Jesse Estrada was touched up for four runs in five innings but the pen and the hitters picked him up. Michael Phelps picked up the win with a shutout ninth and Matthew Avery put Jupiter down in the tenth for his fifth save of the season.

Scott Taylor Hit Hard in Daytona Loss

Scott Taylor had a tough time with Jupiter in the Cubs 6-4 loss.  He dropped to 0-3 on the season and he gave up five runs on nine hits with four strikeouts in five innings of work.

Nate Spears went four for five in the game.  Jesus Valdez doubled and drove in two runs while Matt Matulia went two for five with a double and two runs.

Matt Matulia Has Three Hit Game in Daytona Win

Matt Mutulia was the hitting star in Daytona’s 7-2 win over Palm Beach.  He went three for five with a double, a triple, an RBI and two runs.  Nate Spears singled, drew a walk and scored two runs.

Sean Marshall picked up his first win of the season with six sold innings.  He gave up two runs on seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

Tyler Colvin Drives in Four Runs In Daytona Win

Tyler Colvin had a big day at the plate in Daytona’s 9-5 win over Palm Beach.  He went three for five with a double, four RBIs and a run.  Nate Spears went two for two with two walks, two runs and two RBIs.

Mitch Atkins improved to 2-1 with a solid start. He gave up two runs on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

Daytona Hammers Brevard County With Late Flurry of Runs

The Daytona Cubs hammered Brevard County in their season opener.  They scored six of their eight runs in the final three frames with Matt Matulia leading the way.  He went two for four with a double and three RBIs.  Nate Spears scored twice and Tyler Colvin had two hits and a run.

Mitch Atkins threw six solid innings in his start.  He gave up two runs on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings of work.
