J.R. Mathes fell to 6-5 on the season in a rough start in Iowa’s 11-5 loss to Oklahoma. He gave up nine runs on eleven hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings.
Anthony Richie went two for four with a double and a run. Ronny Cedeno went two for four with a solo homerun.
Iowa fell a run short in their 5-4 loss to Memphis in what turned out to be their fourth consecutive loss. Ronny Cedeno drove in three of the four Iowa runs despite not getting a single hit while Micah Hoffpauir went three for four with a run.
Les Walrond fell to 7-3 on the season with a mediocre start. He gave up four runs on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts in seven innings. Three of the six hits went over the fence and that’s what really cost the Cubs.

Ronny Cedeno went three for five with a double and a run. Micah Hoffpauir went two for four with two RBIs and a run.
Iowa blew out Tacoma 12-5 and Micah Hoffpauir was just one of the hitting stars in the win. He went three for five with a three run homer. Four other Cubs went yard in an homerun onslaught with Ronny Cedeno hitting one of the homeruns. He went two for four with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs.
Ryan O’Malley was shelled for five runs and he was gone before the end of the second inning. Fortunately, the hitters picked him up. Jim Henderson picked up the win and he improved to 3-0 with a 1 1/3 innings of shutout ball.
Sean Marshall got it done on the mound in the Cubs 9-2 win over Oklahoma. He gave up just one run on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts in eight solid innings and the win pushes his record to 2-0 on the season.
Felix Pie had a nice game at the plate. He went two for five with a run and two RBIs. Ronny Cedeno went three for four with a double and he scored two runs.
