Jacob Fox scored on a squeeze play in the top of the eleventh inning and that run proved to be the game winner in the Smokies 2-1 win. Tyler Colvin had a great day at the plate. He went three for five with with two doubles and he drove in the first Smokies run.
Donald Veal struck out eleven in just five innings before yielding to the pen. Jim Henderson threw three shutout innings and he picked up the win for the Smokies.
Justin Berg improved to 4-5 on the season with a nice start in the Smokies 4-1 win over Carolina. He gave up one run on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings.
Jacob Fox went two for four with two runs and an RBI. Matt Craig hit a two run homer.
Donald Veal fell to 4-5 on the season with a rough start in the Smokies 8-1 loss to Huntsville. He gave up six runs on nine hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
All eight Smokie hits were singles. Jemel Spearman was the only hitter to reach base twice with a single and a walk.
The Smokies picked up two quick wins in one day as the Smokies beat Huntsville in both of their doubleheader games and it was Mark Holliman that made the headlines. He threw a seven inning no hitter in which he gave up just one walk with three strikeouts. Mark Holliman even helped out his own cause by providing the bulk of the offense with a two run homer.
Game two saw a solid pitching performance by the bullpen. After starter Matthew Avery gave up two runs in three innings, the pen held Huntsville scoreless the rest of the way. Adalberto Mendez threw two of those scoreless innings and he picked up the win. Issmael Salas went two for three with two RBIs and Casey McGehee went two for three with two runs.
Kevin Hart got it done on the mound and he improved to 5-5 on the season with a nice start in the Smokies 4-2 win over Huntsville. He gave up two runs (zero earned) on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings.
Matt Craig had the big hit of the game. He belted a two run homer in the fourth inning that gave the Smokies their first lead.
Jacob Fox belted a two run homer for the Smokies and that was pretty much all the hitters did in the team’s 3-2 loss to Huntsville. That was the only extra base hit of the game and no Smokie reach base twice.

The Smokies scored two late runs but 4-3 was as close as they’d get in a tough loss to the Jaxx. Sam Fuld was the hitting star. He went two for four with a triple and a run.
Paul Schappert took the loss despite a decent start and he fell to 2-2 on the season. He gave up two runs on four hits with two strikeouts in six innings.
Donald Veal improved to 4-4 on the season with a nice start in the Smokies 5-2 win over the Jaxx. He gave up four hits and three walks with a strikeout in five shutout innings.
Gary Cates went two for four with two runs in the win. Jacob Fox went two for three with two RBIs and a run.
Mark Holliman was all that bad in his start for the Smokies but the took the loss none the less. He fell to 6-5 and he gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks with two strikeouts in six innings.
Matt Craig provided all of the offense in the 4-2 loss. He hit a two run homerun that was his fifth long ball of the season.
Mark Hollimon fell to 6-4 on the season with a rough start in the Smokies 5-4 loss to Carolina. He gave up four runs on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts in six innings.
Sam Fuld had a nice day at the plate in the loss. He went three for five with a double and two RBI.

The Smokies came back from a two run deficit to beat the Barons 4-3. Sam Fuld doubled home Carlos Rojas in the bottom of the ninth for the game winner. Fuld also had a solo homerun earlier in the game.
Billy Petrick picked up the win and he improved to 1-1 on the season. He gave up just one unearned run in three innings.
Adalberto Mendez gave up two runs in the top of the thirteenth inning and he took the loss in the Smokies 7-5 loss to the Barons. He dropped to 1-2 on the season and it was his second inning of work.
Jacob Fox had only one hit but it was a two run homer. Jorge Cortes went three for six with two doubles and two runs.
The Smokies got plenty of offense in their 8-1 win over the Barons and just about everyone made a contribution. Gary Cates had a nice game and he doubled twice and scored twice while Josh Kroeger went three for three with a double, an RBI and a run.
Mark Holliman threw three shutout innings but he came out because of a rain delay. Gregory Reinhard picked up the win and he gave up one run and struck out three in two innings.
The Smokies poured on the offense in their 10-3 win over the Barons. Matt Craig had only one hit but it was a three run homer and Josh Kroeger went two for four with two RBIs and two runs.

Sean Gallagher improved to 7-2 with another nice start in the Smokies 5-1 win over the Jaxx. He gave up one run on three hits and one walk with nine strikeouts in seven solid innings. The nine strikeouts are a season high and it brings his season total up to 49 in 55 1/3 innings.
Josh Kroeger was the hitting star in the win. He went three for four with a two run homer.
